GET KNITTED OR LANVIN???
Just came across this beautiful fabric and FAKE pearl necklace designed by Lanvin and worn by the lovely Sara Michelle Gellar which could be yours for the mere price of $ 715. I am really going to try very very hard to duplicate this little number and hopefully have it posted here in a couple of weeks time.I'm going to have to put this one up for sale in my etsy store (GetKnitted) if all goes well....stay tuned for the big comparison.

and the fabric flowers keep coming
haven't made as many as i would of liked by now but here are three versions of fabric flowers, at the moment using only scrap bits of fabric lying around. I love the red yo-yo flowers and will be making more of those in the same fabric. I intend to buy some velvet soon because i think that all of these designs would look fantastic in velvet and silk. These were my first attempts but i look forward to making and showing my velvet/silk ones here soon...cheers

fabric flower
Handmade recycled cotton fabric flower pin/brooch adorned with a beautiful purple glass button. The petals have been manipulated and sculpted to add dimension. These flowers look simple enough to make but boy do they require alot of time and patience. Cant wait to experiment with different materials and textures, so stay tuned for fabric flower number two.

crochet rose cuff
hi all
Just another new edition to my ever growing crochet/knitted cuff collection. They are so much fun to make and you can let your imagination run wild (haven't really done that yet but I'm getting there). This one incorporates my love of pink and grey with a pretty vintage looking rose attached. I think it would look great with jeans, high heels and a cute top. watch out for more to come soon, I'm going to let my imagination run wild with my next project. this one is up for sale at my etsy store http://www.etsy.com/shop/GetKnitted.

my first kanzashi
hello world
I believe that the art of craft is an amazing high, maybe I need a life but I pity those who don't share the passion for any type of craft, be it in the form of fabric, yarn, wool, paper etc. I would also love to thank the internet and all the wonderful people who share their craft with us all. I actually learn t how to do this on the net in one afternoon, what a great era we are living in. My first Kanzashi flower is born, not sure what i will do with it yet but I'm thinking of making a few more and stringing them together to make a necklace.I used Australian cotton from the "French provincial" range, its absolutely high end fabric.I'm just so thrilled with the outcome, please let me know what you think of it, I would also love to see your kanzashi flowers too. Kanzashi rules.....cheers

Boy, do the Japanese know craft or what!!!! Have always loved the sheer beauty of all types of japanese crafts, be it origami, crochet, knitting and now for me its all about Kanzashi. The art of fabric folding, how ingenious, creative and just bloody beautiful. Bought some Aussie made 100% cotton with a french provincial design today and am ready to cut my squares and start folding, of course the ultimate fabric to use would be vintage kimono remnants, just imagine recycling and wearing a piece of authentic Japanese culture. I will post my first attempt of making these beautiful fabric flowers here soon, so stay tuned......

my latest crochet creation
Have been obsessed with making crochet jewelery lately, I'm rather pleased by my latest creation. It looks mysterious and old worldly, the buttons give it a Mayan /Aztec kind of edge to it. Will be posting this piece on etsy this weekend along with a couple of other new creations for the wrist. I think these would make great Xmas gifts....cheers

summer is coming
Summer is all about the beach in Australia, beach culture includes cool summer fashions like cool summer tops, shorts, mini skirts, Havaiana thongs, spray on tans and of course the all important "bikini'. Swimwear is a fashion statement in its self and here in Australia swimwear designers are amongst the best in world and why wouldn't they be,just take a look at our beautiful coastline .
Looking great on and around the beach is imperative, this is why I designed this funky retro crochet bikini.
"Vintage" is back, and what better way to show off your body than the iconic hip and groovy crochet
bikini.
This pattern took me one year to perfect its fit and
contours. Its an easy to follow pattern which uses only one stitch throughout,so if you can crochet visit here http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25164196
or if you cant crochet then visit here

red dust day,
Sydney was hit by a massive giant inferno of red dust this morning. The sky was glowing amber and it really looked like a scene from a Hollywood sci-fi come alien invasion come the morning after a nuclear bomb had hit kind of situation. When i woke up and saw that the sky was red and the sun was white like the moon my jaw dropped all the way to the ground.......Note to self ALWAYS keep face masks handy.

the crochet bikini is back!!!!
Its amazing how fashion turns around and comes right back around again. This time its the retro, cool and hip crochet bikini, seems like all the celebs are wearing some sort of crocheted swimsuit. Even our very own Aussie icon Elle McPherson, sports illustrated swimsuit model extraordinaire was spotted wearing one last
summer.
I have have been torturing myself for over a year trying to come up with the best fitting crochet bikini pattern, and at last i have done it. It took many many many trials and errors to finally come up with a beautiful fitting crochet bikini ( pictured below ), even my cousin (a budding young fashion designer) insisted i make her one (huge compliment)
My pattern is so easy to follow and uses only (1) stitch throughout, I'm thrilled with the results. So if you, or someone you know can crochet then check this out,

KNITTING for beginners
Hi all
thought i would start my first lesson with the very basic but functional "icord", all you need to know is how to knit.Icords can be made with any type of yarn, just be sure to use the corresponding double pointed needle size that goes with it. Cast on any number of odd stitches, usually 3 or 5 stitches is the standard but once you have made an icord you can experiment with yarn thicknesses and amounts of cast on stitches, it just needs to be an odd number.
so for this lesson lets cast on 5 stitches and knit one row, on the next row slide your work down the other end of the needle and knit another row, next row slide your work down the other end and knit that row and basically that's it. Continue doing this till you reach a desired length, make it long enough to use as a lariat, make 2 or 3 really long ones in different colors to hang around your neck or make it short enough for a bracelet, its your choice.
These icords can be embellished with, beads, buttons, sequence, knitted leaves, knitted flowers etc etc. Next time I will be posting a crochet flower pattern to sew or pin to your icord. So get your needles out and start clicking and before long you will be wearing your own original piece of wearable fiber art....cheers

IF THE PATTERN FITS....WEAR IT
creating and designing my crochet bikini pattern was not an easy road. Many patterns on the web were really really horrible, I tried a few out and they just weren't up to scratch, so i decided to create my own pattern. It took me nearly one year of trial and error but in the end i got there and here is the end result, even my niece who is a fashion designer wanted me to make her one (now that's a huge compliment) you can find this pattern at my etsy store http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25164196

a crafters plight
If you can imagine a world without creativity then you are probably uncreative or lazy. Today i bought yet another stash of fiber from wool to wool roving. I am like a child in a candy store when i visit one of the "few" wool shops in sydney. Which brings me to my next point, for a country who claims and has the best wool on the planet, why is it so hard to find good yarn. I can actually buy more australian spun wool, fiber and wool roving from online stores in the U.S.A rather than from any store online or otherwise within australia..........Something is seriously wrong with this scenario......Not happy Jan!!!!
P.S Does anybody know where one could find wool-roving in Sydney Australia?

adoption
After waiting seven years, my friend finally brought home her gorgeous baby daughter. Words cannot describe the heartfelt jubilation that her friends, family and I encountered.I knew her and loved her instantly, in all honesty i have loved her for seven years, it was like she had always been here, and that this was exactly where she belonged. Its a crazy, incredible, wonderful feeling for me and one heck of an emotional roller coaster ride for perspective parents. My thoughts today are with all you single parents out there who are going through the adoption process, I take my hat off to you, and please just hang in there because the end result is sooooo worth the ride!!!!!

full moon theory
i never believed in the full moon/ ware wolf theory, until i put two and two together.Women get bitchier, men get meaner, teenagers become even worse teenagers and there is even less money in my wallet. Here is my deduction, you only have to look at the effect that the full moon has on tides (way powerful) and the fact that the human body contains 65% water makes it all very clear why the general public goes crazy once a month.............The moon is raking havoc across the globe.......Damn you moon....

mr turnbull
SHAME on you mr Turnbull, in a time of economic unease, when the mums and dads of this great country of ours (which incidentally is not technically in a recession) thanks to the stimulus packages delivered by our labor government, should be seeing labor and liberal holding hands (not playing school yard antics ) to see this country out of this economic turmoil. As an ordinary Australian citizen i cant thank labor enough for what they have done to boost this country's economy. I cant stand the fact that you made it to the BRW's top 200 rich list. Why would a single mum on minimum wage have any faith in your knowledge of our plight. It is obvious that you have no respect towards our prime minister who has led this country in a way that I like many others still hold jobs, I don't think that liberal would ever have considered me or others on minimum wage a priority. In fact when Mr Howard gave his final speech after losing the election he said that this nation was a slippers by the fire/ kind of country, like we are all sooooooo comfortable. Like you he was completely out of touch with "the little Aussie battlers" of this nation who still exists and whom he happened to ignore for 12yrs or so. Why would i want a multi millionaire like you Mr Turnbull to pretend to know what more than half of the adult population needs......RESIGN
